Fist Up to Books! We Were Eight Years in Power

We Were Eight Years in Power: An American Tragedy, by Ta-Nehisi Coates (2017). This is Ta-Nehisi’s treasury of riveting articles reprinted from The Atlantic Magazine and collected in a single volume. Of course my favorite is The Case for Reparations, no, not because he quotes me in it (but I’m thrilled he did!), but more so because of its role in catapulting the issue of reparations front and center into mainstream discourse. I also recently read his novel, The Water Dancer – Deep! and loved the Harriet Tubman conduction scenes.
